Two inmates injured in fire at jail's kitchen in Thane district

Thane, Jul 14 (PTI) Two inmates of the Aadharwadi Jail in Thane district received minor burn wounds in a fire that broke out in the kitchen of the prison on Tuesday afternoon, a police official said. The official said the duo was locally treated and the blaze was put out using extinguishers even before Fire Brigade personnel could reach the prison in Kalyan. The cause of the fire was not immediately known. An officer at the Aadharwadi fire station of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) said they received a call from the prison about a fire at around 13.20 pm. "Even before our fire team could reach the prison, they got another call stating that the fire has been put out locally," he added. PTI COR RSY
