New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) Following are the top Supreme Court stories: LGD42 SC-COURTS-AVAILAIBILITY (6.46 PM) **** The SC agreed to examine a plea seeking framing of a standard operating procedure (SOP) to allow citizens to approach the courts even beyond the regular working hours in cases affecting life and liberty, including illegal detentions. **** LGD40 SC-WB-LD OBC LIST (6.23 PM) **** In a significant development, the West Bengal government and the State Backward Classes Commission withdrew their separate pleas from the SC against a Calcutta High Court judgment striking down the inclusion of 77 castes, including 75 Muslim communities, in the state's OBC list. **** LGD39 SC-AAP-GUJ-SOCIAL MEDIA (6.21 PM) **** The SC sought the Centre's response on a plea by the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Gujarat unit challenging the suspension of its social media accounts and web portal. **** LGD38 SC-GURUGRAM-REALTY FRAUD (6.15 PM) **** The SC transferred a money-laundering case linked to alleged cheating of homebuyers, involving real-estate tycoon Amit Katyal, from Gurugram to a special PMLA court in Delhi. **** LGD37 SC-2ND LD BHOJSHALA (6.1 PM) **** Observing that both Hindu and Muslim sides must have patience due to the "sensitive" nature of the Bhojshala matter, the SC directed that a separate open space be provided adjacent to the disputed site in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar for offering namaz on Fridays between 1 and 3 pm till the case is decided. **** LGD35 SC-LD INFLUENCERS (5.38 PM) **** Slamming the conduct of comedian Samay Raina and YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, the SC said they had taken the court for a ride, and imposed a cost of Rs 3 each on them. **** LGD26 SC-CBSE-GULF COUNTRIES (3.50 PM) **** The SC said it would hear next week a plea challenging the CBSE's March 27 assessment scheme for regular students who were affected by the cancellation of class 12 board examination in Gulf countries due to the Iran-US war. **** LGD24 SC-CBSE-LANGUAGE (3.36 PM) **** The SC sought responses from the Centre, NCERT and the CBSE on two fresh pleas challenging the education board’s policy mandating the study of three languages, including two native Indian languages, for Class 9 students. **** LGD22 SC-TTZ (3.19 PM) **** The SC agreed to hear next week a batch of applications filed by the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government seeking modification of its directions regulating industrial activity in the Taj Trapezium Zone. **** LGD18 SC-SRK-MANNAT (2.28 PM) **** In a relief to Shah Rukh Khan, the SC dismissed a petition challenging the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance granted for the construction of an additional two floors on the actor's residence, Mannat, in Mumbai. **** LGD12 SC-NIA ACT (1.32 PM) **** The SC asked the Centre to file within four weeks its response on a petition challenging the validity of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008. **** LGD10 SC-SONAM RAGHUVANSHI (1.19 PM) **** The SC said it would hear on July 21 a plea filed by the Meghalaya government challenging the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of killing her husband during their honeymoon in 2025. **** LGD5 SC-ADVOCATE-ASSAULT (12.21 PM) **** The SC directed Delhi Police to submit status report in connection with the alleged assault on an advocate in the national capital. **** LGD4 SC-NCLT-VACANCIES (12.19 PM) **** The SC deferred hearing on a suo motu case related to delays in the appointment of members in the National Company Law Tribunals and infrastructure issues, saying the appointment process is currently underway. **** LGD3 SC-LALU (12.15 PM) **** The SC refused to interfere with the Jharkhand High Court order granting bail to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in a fodder scam case. **** PTI PKS SHS
