New Delhi, Jul 16 (PTI) A 46-year-old school teacher was killed after she allegedly fell from a bike taxi on her way to school and was run over by a truck on Kanjhawala Road in Rohini on Thursday, police said.
The victim, Priyanka, a resident of Rama Vihar, worked as a teacher in the MCD School in K-Block, Mangolpuri.
According to police, a PCR call regarding the road accident was received on Thursday morning, following which a police team reached the spot and found a truck, loaded with bajri (sand), stationed on the road, while the woman was found crushed under its left rear wheel.
Police said she succumbed to her injuries by the time they arrived, and they are investigating the exact sequence of events leading to her falling onto the road.
"The body was shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where it was preserved in the mortuary after medico-legal formalities," the officer said.
Police said the crime team inspected the scene, documented evidence and registered a case under sections 281 (rash or negligent driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.
Police said they contacted the offending truck's owner and are working to trace and arrest the absconding driver.
Police said they are also examining the rider's role, if any, as part of the ongoing investigation. PTI BM ASD ASD
