Rajasthan: CHC doctor held for taking bribe to perform medical procedure after woman's miscarriage

Jaipur, Jul 16 (PTI) A gynaecologist posted at a Community Health Centre in Sri Ganganagar has been arrested for allegedly demanding bribe from a man for carrying out a medical procedure on his wife after she suffered a miscarriage, officials said on Thursday. The accused, Dr Mahendra Singh, a medical officer and gynaecologist, had allegedly demanded Rs 4,000 for conducting a procedure after the complainant's wife, who was around three months pregnant, suffered fetal death. The complainant approached Rajasthan's Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) alleging that the doctor refused to perform the procedure unless the bribe was paid. Following verification of the complaint, an ACB team laid a trap and caught the doctor red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 3,500 from the complainant, an ADG ACB Smita Srivastava said in Jaipur.
