Punjab SIR: Door-to-door enumeration to continue till Aug 3; draft rolls to be published Aug 13

Chandigarh, July 15 (PTI) The Election Commission has revised the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Punjab electoral rolls, officials said on Wednesday. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anindita Mitra said now, the door-to door enumeration phase will continue till August 3. The rationalisation of polling stations will also be completed by that date. Mitra said draft electoral rolls will now be published August 13. She said claims and objections regarding the draft electoral rolls will be accepted from August 13 to September 12, while disposal of claims will continue till October 8. The CEO informed that the final electoral rolls will be published October 12. She urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in the SIR exercise and ensure their electoral details are complete, accurate and up to date, thereby contributing towards free, fair and transparent elections.
