New Delhi, July 10 (PTI) Municipal Corporation of Delhi Commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar on Friday directed officials to ensure that the under-construction Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plant at Goyla Dairy is completed and made ready for commissioning by September 17, extending the earlier July deadline. The plant, which will process around 200 tonnes of cow dung daily, is expected to help reduce pollution and prevent untreated waste from flowing into the Yamuna. Reviewing the progress of the project in Najafgarh, Khirwar instructed the executing agency to expedite all pending civil, mechanical and electrical works by deploying adequate manpower and resolving bottlenecks on priority, an official statement said. The CBG plant will process cattle dung and municipal solid waste to produce compressed bio-gas and organic fertiliser. The commissioner also directed officials to ensure that no cattle dung flows into nearby drains and that proper collection, transportation and processing systems are put in place to prevent waste from entering the Yamuna, and safeguard public health and the environment. Later, Khirwar inspected key solid waste management facilities in the West Zone, including the refurbished Fixed Compactor Transfer Stations at Pankha Road and a BOT (build-operate-transfer) site, where he reviewed upgraded infrastructure and operational preparedness. According to a MCD statement, the facilities have been equipped with an enhanced fleet of container carriers, hook loaders, road-sweeping waste transport vehicles, auto tippers and e-rickshaws to strengthen waste collection and transportation.
