New Delhi, Jul 16 (PTI) Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met his Sri Lankan counterpart Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (retd) here on Thursday, as the two sides reviewed the progress made under the bilateral defence cooperation plan and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest. The Indian defence ministry shared the update in a post on X along with photographs of the meeting. “Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met Secretary Defence, Sri Lanka, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), in New Delhi today. “Both sides reviewed the progress made under the Bilateral Defence Cooperation Plan and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” it said in the post. In another post, the defence ministry said that Chief of Defence Staff and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, General N S Raja Subramani, paid a courtesy call on Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, in New Delhi. “The interaction focused on the current security environment, enhancing jointness and integration among the defence forces, capability development, operational preparedness and ongoing defence reforms aimed at strengthening India's military capabilities,” it said, sharing photos of the meeting.
