Panchkula, Jul 11 (PTI) Haryana Congress organised a candlelight march in Panchkula to pay tribute to students who allegedly lost their lives in the aftermath of the alleged NEET-UG cancellation following a paper leak and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The march, led by AICC in-charge for Haryana Sanjay Dutt and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narendra Singh, began at the Community Centre in Sector 26 late on Friday and concluded at Ambedkar Chowk.
Addressing the gathering, Dutt alleged that repeated question paper leaks during the Narendra Modi government's tenure had put the future of millions of students at risk and eroded their confidence in the education system.
Holding Pradhan morally responsible for the alleged lapses, Dutt demanded that he resign.
The Congress leader also sought financial compensation for the affected families and a government job for one member of each bereaved family.
Rao Narendra Singh said the Congress would intensify its "Students' Voice" campaign across Haryana, taking their concerns to villages, schools, colleges, coaching institutes and universities.
He said the party would continue to raise the issue both on the streets and in legislative forums until justice was ensured for students.
Several Congress leaders, party workers, students and local residents participated in the march.
Among those present were MP Karmveer Bauddh, former deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, and AICC co-in-charge Jitendra Baghel. PTI VSD RUK RUK
