Ranchi, Jul 14 (PTI) Booth-level officers (BLOs) have reached nearly 95 per cent of Jharkhand's 2.64 crore electors under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, an official said on Tuesday.
The enumeration exercise began on June 30 and will continue till July 29, during which BLOs are conducting door-to-door visits to distribute, collect and verify enumeration forms.
"BLOs have successfully reached out to 94.96 per cent of the total electorate, covering 2,51,28,733 voters, and made enumeration forms available to eligible Indian citizens through house-to-house visits," an official in the Chief Electoral Officer's office said.
He said more than 41.27 per cent of the enumeration forms have been digitised so far.
As part of the SIR exercise, joint meetings of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents (BLA-2), along with 'Chunav Pathshala', were organised at all polling stations across the state on Tuesday.
The meetings discussed the preparation of draft lists of ASDD (absent, shifted, dead or duplicate) voters from the list of unmapped electors.
"Chunav Pathshala along with joint meetings of BLOs and BLA-2 were organised at all polling stations across the state. During the programme, BLOs read out the list of absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and 'refused to sign' (non-Indian) voters from the electoral roll before the people," Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar said.
The CEO, who attended the programme at a polling station in Lohardaga district, encouraged BLOs, BLAs and 'Chunav Pathshala' members to ensure the successful completion of the revision exercise.
He said the meetings also held detailed discussions on unmapped voters.
The next meeting of BLOs and BLAs has been scheduled for July 22.
Ahead of the enumeration exercise, parental mapping of 82.08 per cent of the state's electorate with the 2003 electoral rolls has been completed. Of the total 2.64 crore electors, around 47.41 lakh remain unmapped.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5, following which claims and objections can be filed till September 4.
The claims and objections will be disposed of between August 5 and October 3, while the final electoral rolls will be published on October 7. PTI SAN SAN SOM
