What you get
Ladli Laxmi Yojana provides Rs 1,43,000 total benefit to girl children of Madhya Pradesh: Rs 6,000/year invested in National Savings Certificates for 5 years (Rs 30,000 total), then periodic scholarships at Class 6 (Rs 2,000), Class 9 (Rs 4,000), Class 11 (Rs 6,000), Class 12 (Rs 6,000), and Rs 1,00,000 paid on the girl's marriage or on turning 21 years old (conditional on completing 12th standard). The scheme aims to improve girl child education and reduce child marriage. Over 45 lakh girls enrolled since 2007.
Who can apply
Girl children of Madhya Pradesh born after January 1, 2006. Both parents must be Madhya Pradesh residents and not be income tax payers. Family income below threshold. Application within 1 year of birth. Anganwadi registration required.
