Murshidabad and adjacent Malda districts constitute West Bengal's principal mango belt, where Himsagar, Langra, Fazli, Gulabkhas, Lakshmanbhog, and Kohitur mango varieties are cultivated on an estimated 75,000 hectares of mango orchards that supply Kolkata's wholesale markets and premium mango exports to Europe and West Asia.
