Faridabad Surajkund Crafts Mela Heritage

Contributed by Swadesi Editorial Team

Surajkund in Faridabad district hosts India's largest crafts fair, the annual Surajkund International Crafts Mela held in February, which showcases handicrafts, textiles, and performing arts from all Indian states and selected foreign countries across a sprawling amphitheatre complex near the ancient Surajkund reservoir. The mela draws over 400,000 visitors annually and directly supports 2,000 artisans who sell their wares — Madhubani paintings, Kashmiri shawls, Rajasthani block prints, terracotta, jewellery, and food stalls representing regional cuisines. Surajkund's crafts mela is managed by the Haryana Tourism Corporation and has been India's premier platform for artisan visibility and direct market access since 1987.
