Chandigarh, Jul 7 (PTI) Congress MP from Sirsa Kumari Selja on Tuesday called the BJP government's recruitment policy in Haryana a symbol of "injustice, humiliation and playing with the future of youth", claiming that recruitment rules were leaving hundreds of government posts vacant despite large-scale unemployment.
In a statement, Selja said the recruitment process for post-graduate teachers (PGT) in computer science reflected the shortcomings of the government's policy, as 603 out of 1,673 advertised posts remained vacant even after a fresh recruitment exercise.
She also cited the recent recruitment of psychology assistant professors in which only three candidates reportedly cleared the process for 85 posts, and said vacancies in several other subjects also remained unfilled.
She said the situation was demoralising for qualified candidates and highlighted serious flaws in the recruitment process.
Selja said that while lakhs of educated youth in Haryana were waiting for government jobs, schools were facing a shortage of teachers, and several government departments had thousands of vacant posts.
Instead of framing practical recruitment rules to fill these vacancies, the government was excluding eligible candidates, she alleged.
The Congress leader also accused the BJP government of failing to fulfil its promise of providing employment to the state's youth.
She claimed rising unemployment was leading to frustration, mental stress and insecurity among young people.
Raising the issue of employees working under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN), Selja said the government had promised before the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections to regularise the services of around 1.20 lakh contractual employees. However, she alleged that not a single employee had been regularised so far and that the government was misleading them with fresh assurances.
Selja demanded that the government immediately fill vacant posts, review what she described as impractical eligibility and cut-off norms, ensure a transparent and practical recruitment process, and give priority to Haryana's youth in government jobs.
She also urged the government to fulfil its promise of regularising HKRN employees without further delay.
The Congress would continue to fight for the employment, dignity and rights of Haryana's youth, the Sirsa MP added. PTI VSD PRK
