Lucknow, Jul 10 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several other state leaders on Friday greeted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on his 75th birthday, praising his leadership and wishing him good health and a long life.
Singh, who was born on July 10, 1951, in Babhora village of Chandauli district, is the Lucknow MP and has also served as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
In a post on X, Adityanath said, "Heartiest birthday greetings to the distinguished orator and popular leader, Hon'ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh ji. Your simple personality, humble conduct and unwavering dedication to the national interest are a source of inspiration for crores of Indians. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to bless you with excellent health, a long life and continued success." Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also extended birthday greetings. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said, "Heartiest birthday greetings and best wishes to the popular leader, distinguished orator, our guide and the country's accomplished Defence Minister, and the respected Member of Parliament from Lucknow, the sacred land of Lord Lakshman, Shri Rajnath Singh ji. We pray to God to bless you with excellent health and a long life." Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said Singh had established a strong tradition of public welfare and good governance as chief minister and had taken India's security and strategic strength to new heights as Defence Minister. He wished him good health and longevity.
State Minister Asim Arun said Singh had played a key role in making India's defence system stronger and more self-reliant and prayed for his good health and long life.
Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal said the Lucknow Municipal Corporation marked Singh's birthday by launching a mega cleanliness drive across all 110 wards of the city.
In a post on X, she said the campaign began with floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Hazratganj followed by a cleanliness drive in which civic officials and employees participated.
Kharkwal said Singh's special attachment to Lucknow, spirit of public service and commitment to the city's development had always been a source of inspiration, adding that the campaign was the Lucknow family's expression of service, respect and commitment towards its MP on his birthday.
