UP CM reviews development projects, preparations for Shravan month in Varanasi

Varanasi (UP), Jul 7 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday reviewed the progress of development projects, law and order situation, and preparations for the upcoming Shravan month with public representatives and officials in Varanasi district, the government said in a statement. Adityanath directed that ongoing ambitious projects in the district be completed on time while maintaining quality standards. He said that every possible effort should be made to complete the construction of the integrated divisional office within 18 months, and instructed that the ropeway project in Varanasi be completed within the stipulated time. He directed that the road widening work at Dalmandi be completed expeditiously and that compensation be distributed to affected individuals in accordance with the rules. The chief minister directed that works under the Jal Jeevan Mission be expedited, and emphasised that roads dug up for laying drinking water pipelines must be repaired concurrently. He also instructed that inter-departmental meetings be held prior to the underground cabling work in the city and that the road registration process be completed in time. He laid special emphasis on the simultaneous restoration of roads cut during the laying of drinking water and sewer pipelines. He directed that small boats operating in the Ganga be registered through the municipal corporation and that boatmen be provided with necessary facilities, such as life jackets. Adityanath directed that the essential works for the townships --- Anand Kashi, Rudra Kashi, and Kashi Sports City --- being developed by the Varanasi Development Authority be completed on schedule. He instructed that the pace of construction for the Unity Mall be accelerated and that preparations for the 'Tree Plantation Mega Campaign-2026' be ensured. While reviewing preparations for the holy Shravan month, the chief minister directed that a separate route be arranged for locals to visit the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He said that the barricading installed between Maidagin and Godaulia during the month of Shravan should not cause any inconvenience to local traders. Aditanath directed the district administration, police department, municipal corporation, Public Works Department (PWD), and electricity department to work in close coordination during the month of Shravan. He emphasised the need for better coordination between the Transport Department and the Railways to ensure effective crowd management. He also directed that all basic amenities such as cleanliness, clean drinking water, 'lost and found' centres, health and disaster management services, and free locker facilities be made available to the devotees.
