Seraikela (Jharkhand), Jul 7 (PTI) Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision between two heavy vehicles on NH-220 in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Rajnagar-Chaibasa Road in Rajnagar police station area around 1.30 am, a police officer said.
The drivers of two more trailers coming from behind on one side lost control of their vehicles during an attempt to avert a collision following the accident and overturned, leading to injuries to them, he said, adding they were taken to a community health centre for treatment.
"The driver of one of the heavy vehicles involved in the head-on collision between a dumper and a trailer was charred to death following the fire that erupted after the accident.
"The driver of the other vehicle sustained grievous injuries and got stuck in the cabin. He was rescued and was rushed to Sadar Hospital in Chaibasa where doctors declared him dead," Rajnagar police station officer-in-charge Bipul Kumar Ojha said.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was brought under control after two hours.
