Lucknow, Jul 7 (PTI) Monsoon showers on Tuesday brought relief from the heat across parts of Uttar Pradesh, with Banda recording the maximum rainfall at 61.4 mm, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
It also forecast more rain and isolated heavy showers in the western region of the state.
According to the IMD, rain and thundershowers were recorded at many places, with Banda receiving the highest rainfall of 61.4 mm, followed by Meerut (68.2 mm), Varanasi BHU (32.2 mm), Shahjahanpur (24 mm) and Muzaffarnagar (20.8 mm).
Day temperatures remained below normal in several cities. Banda recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius, while Etawah was at 32.6 degrees Celsius. Kanpur city recorded 33.6 degrees Celsius.
In Lucknow, the maximum temperature settled at 34.4 degrees Celsius, while the IMD forecast a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers over the city and neighbouring areas on Wednesday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, it said.
The IMD said rain and thundershowers are very likely at many places over west Uttar Pradesh and at a few places over east Uttar Pradesh, with heavy rain expected at isolated places in the western part of the state. PTI CDN APL APL
