Truck crushes to death 3-year-old girl at dumping ground in Bhiwandi; irate mob indulges in arson

Thane, Jul 11 (PTI) A three-year-old girl was crushed to death by a dumper truck in Bhiwandi in Thane district on Saturday morning, a police official said. The incident took place at a dumping ground in Chavindra village, resulting in an enraged mob storming the area in protest, Bhiwandi Taluka police station senior inspector Harshwardhan Barave said. The mob set the administrative office of the dumping ground facility as well as two parked dumpers on fire, he said. Heavy police deployment restored normalcy at the site, Barave said, adding that the fire was also brought under control immediately. "Two separate cases have been registered. One is against the dumper truck driver for the fatal accident, while the second is against villagers for rioting and arson. Efforts are on to nab the driver as well those who indulged in vandalism," he said. PTI COR BNM
