Chhatrapati Sambhajingar, Jul 8 (PTI) The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken action against a trader in Dharashiv for allegedly selling milk powder to dairies in violation of rules, an official said on Wednesday.
FDA inspector Rohit Fandi said they had received inputs that Madhuban trading company, run by Balasaheb Godge, had been allegedly selling milk powder to dairies.
The agency raided the premises on July 7 and inspected the bills of the trading company, he said.
“We found that Balasaheb Godge was selling milk powder to dairies, which is not permitted. There is a chance that this powder can be used to make synthetic milk,” the official said.
A case was registered on Wednesday against Godge at the Bhum police station in Dharashiv under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Food Safety and Standards Act, he said.
Meanwhile, the FDA has seized 138 kilos of jaggery stored in unhygienic conditions in the Kannad area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The department later disposed of the jaggery, another official said. PTI AW NR
