Man drowns in pond

Thane, Jul 8 (PTI) A 60-year-old man drowned in a pond at Mumbra in Thane district on Wednesday evening, civic officials said. The incident occurred at the M.S. Compound in the Kausa area. "Before the fire brigade personnel could reach the spot, police personnel from the Daighar police station, with the assistance of local residents, managed to retrieve the body from the water," a civic official said, adding that the deceased has been identified as Aamir Khan. Local police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the circumstances that led to the drowning. PTI COR NSK
