Chandigarh, Jul 9 (PTI) To boost dairy and livestock growth in the region, Punjab Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Jammu & Kashmir Minister Satish Sharma here on Thursday discussed steps to further strengthen inter-state cooperation for the benefit of farmers.
The two ministers explored avenues for cooperation that could boost the livestock economy of both Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir, an official statement said.
Khudian reiterated the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government's commitment to fostering cooperative federalism, emphasising that sharing best practices in agriculture and animal husbandry is vital for the nation's growth, the statement said.
With Punjab ranking among the top milk-producing states in the country, the discussion focused on enhancing milk output, upgrading breeds and strengthening veterinary infrastructure, he added.
Sharma proposed the use of digital platforms to track livestock health and ensure timely delivery of subsidies and veterinary services to far-flung areas.
Sharma also appreciated the insights shared by Khudian and expressed optimism that a structured collaboration in the animal husbandry sector would yield tangible benefits for farmers of both states. PTI SUN MNK MR
