Chandigarh, Jul 7 (PTI) Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday held meetings with representatives of teachers' and medical practitioners' employee unions to discuss their pending demands, including pay fixation, transfers, regularisation and training needs. The meetings were held by a cabinet sub-committee headed by Cheema as part of the state government's efforts to address the grievances of various employee associations, according to an official statement. Representatives of teachers' unions, including the 3704 Adhiyapak Union, ETT 2364 Adhiyapak Union, ETT TET Pass Adhyapak Union (Jai Singh Wala) and the 10 Saal Service Poori Kar Chukke Kachche Adhyapak Union, raised issues related to pay fixation, transfers and regularisation. Cheema directed the department concerned to expedite resolution of the demands. The finance minister also met a delegation of the Medical Practitioners Association Punjab, which sought the early launch of specialised training programmes for rural doctors. Cheema acknowledged the role played by rural medical practitioners in providing grassroots healthcare services and discussed measures to speed up their formal training in coordination with the health department, the statement said.
