Puducherry marks International Day of Yoga with beach road celebrations

Puducherry, Jun 21 (PTI) Lt Governor K Kailashnathan led celebrations marking the 12th International Day of Yoga in the union territory, with the event held on the beach road on Sunday. A large number of school children, youth, officials, yoga teachers and yoga enthusiasts were among those who participated in performing various asanas on the occasion. The beautifully maintained beach road was abuzz with activity, as people began making a beeline for the venue from morning to participate in the event. Earlier, the Lt Governor released a handbook on yoga brought out by the Centre. Chief Minister N Rangasamy received the first copy. Ministers, legislators, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, secretaries of various departments, Director General of Police Shalini Singh, senior police officials and delegates of various institutions were among those present. Puducherry has been encouraging yoga on different occasions, a senior official said. PTI COR SSK
