Ranchi, Jul 10 (PTI) Over 1.99 crore voters out of Jharkhand's 2.64 crore electorate have received enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls till Friday, an official said.
The enumeration phase in the state began on June 30 and will continue till July 29, during which booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits to distribute, collect and verify enumeration forms.
"Till Friday, BLOs have successfully reached out to 75.27 per cent of the total electorate, accounting for 1,99,19,548 voters, where enumeration forms were made available to eligible Indian citizens through door-to-door visits," an official at the CEO office said.
Over 19.77 per cent of enumeration forms have been digitised so far, he added.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar, on Friday reviewed the progress of the distribution and collection of the enumeration forms.
Kumar asked officials to organise special camps in areas where digitisation work is progressing slowly to accelerate the process so that it can be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
He directed them to hold a joint meeting of BLOs and BLA-2 in all districts on July 14 to verify the list of absent, shifted or dead/duplicate (ASDD) persons.
The CEO also asked to mandatorily organise 'Chunav Pathshala' sessions at all polling stations across the state on July 14.
The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 5, following which claims and objections can be filed till September 4.
The claims and objections will be disposed of between August 5 and October 3, while the final electoral rolls will be published on October 7.
As a precursor to the enumeration exercise, parental mapping of 82.08 per cent of the state's 2.64 crore electors with the 2003 electoral rolls has been completed, the CEO said. PTI SAN RG
