One dead, five injured as car rams into pedestrians in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai, Jul 7 (PTI) One person was killed and five others were injured after an electric car allegedly went out of control and rammed into pedestrians and other vehicles in Taloja area of Navi Mumbai, police said. The incident occurred on Monday in Sector 10 of Taloja, they said. As per the preliminary information, the driver of the car lost control, due to which the vehicle hit several people walking on the street. One Nadeem Khan (35) died in the incident, while the injured persons were rushed to a private hospital for treatment, where the condition of some of them was stated to be stable. The accident also caused damage to several vehicles, including an auto-rickshaw that was completely mangled due to the impact. Following the incident, local residents rushed to the spot and informed the police. The driver allegedly abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene immediately afterwards. Police have reached the spot and launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident and trace the absconding driver, officials said. PTI ZA NP
