Lohardaga, Jul 7 (PTI) Dismembered body parts of a man were found inside a sack at a closed stone quarry in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district on Tuesday, police said.
The body parts include the head and two legs, a senior police officer said, adding that the recovery was made from the closed stone quarry located in Oyna Tongri within Sadar police station limits.
"We recovered mutilated body parts in a sack from the quarry, where stone mining stopped long ago. Due to water accumulation, it has turned into a pond. Some youths, who had gone fishing there, spotted the body parts in a sack and informed us,” Lohardaga Sadar police station in-charge Ratnesh Mohan Thakur said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the man was killed somewhere else and the culprits dumped his body parts in the quarry to destroy evidence, he said.
The body parts have been sent for forensic examination, and an investigation has been initiated to establish the victim's identity, the OC said. PTI RPS RPS MNB
