New Delhi, Jul 8 (PTI) A minor collision between two vehicles inside the Dwarka Expressway tunnel escalated briefly into a scuffle after one of the drivers allegedly attempted to assault the other with a stick before fleeing the spot, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the incident was reported to the PCR at 7.44 pm on Tuesday in southwest Delhi, and the caller alleged that his car had a minor collision with a taxi inside the tunnel, following which the taxi driver allegedly tried to attack him with a stick. The caller told police that after he pushed the taxi driver in self-defence, the taxi driver allegedly fell against an SUV, causing minor damage to the vehicle. The SUV's owner then stopped the car driver and sought compensation for the damage, while the taxi driver fled the scene, police said. "PCR personnel reached the spot and found that the taxi driver had already escaped. The car driver and the owner of the SUV resolved the issue amicably at the spot, and no one sustained any injuries in the incident," a senior police officer said. Police said a team from Kapashera police station also visited the location but found neither damaged vehicles nor any injured persons. During a telephonic conversation, the caller told police that he had returned home, the matter was settled mutually and he did not wish to initiate any legal proceedings. Police said efforts are underway to trace the caller and identify the taxi driver. CCTV footage from the Dwarka Expressway tunnel and nearby areas is being examined to establish the sequence of events and ascertain the taxi driver's identity after he fled the altercation, police said.
