Ranchi, Jul 13 (PTI) CPI (Maoist) regional committee member Ravindra Ganjhu, allegedly involved in ambushes on security forces in Jharkhand that left 16 personnel dead, was arrested during a police operation in Latehar district on Monday, a senior officer said. Ganjhu, who was carrying a bounty of Rs 18 lakh on his head, was arrested from Helsa village within Chandwa police station limits. A large cache of arms and ammunition, including an AK-56 rifle, was recovered from his possession, Inspector General (Operations) Narendra Singh said. Jharkhand government had announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh, while the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had declared a Rs 3 lakh reward on him. Ganjhu was wanted for 154 cases in different police stations. He was allegedly involved in the ambush of security forces in which four personnel were killed on November 22, 2019, within Chandwa police station limits in Latehar, according to police records. Ganjhu was also wanted in ambushing security forces on January 7, 2013, at Katia within Barwadih police station limits in the same district, in which 12 jawans were killed and 14 injured.
