Chikkaballapur (Karnataka), Jul 7 (PTI) A 30-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his estranged wife and sister-in-law while they were asleep following a domestic dispute, police said on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Ejaz, a resident of Kolar, allegedly attacked his 25-year-old wife, Shama, and her younger sister with a knife on Monday morning before fleeing with his three children, they said. The incident occurred at a house in Chintamani town in Chikkaballapur district, police said. Police said the accused was into repairing metal items and almirahs. After killing his wife and sister-in-law, Ejaz later took the children to his house to Gulpet in Kolar, and surrendered at the local police station a few hours later, they added. According to the police, the couple had frequent arguments over family issues. After her mother's death recently, Shama had been living with her father in Chintamani for the last four months along with her children and had refused to return to her husband's house. This angered Ejaz and led to repeated disputes between the couple, a senior police officer said. On early Monday morning, he came on his two-wheeler to Shama's house. While she and her sister were asleep, he fatally attacked them with a knife and fled with his three children to his native place, he said. A murder case has been registered at the Chintamani Town police station, police said, adding that the accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway. PTI AMP ROH
