Major drug bust in Kerala's Kochi; gym trainer arrested, around 390 gms of MDMA seized

Kochi, Jul 10 (PTI) A major drug bust was made in a raid carried out under 'Operation Toofan' at Thrikkakara here on Friday with the seizure of close to 390 grams of MDMA allegedly from a gym trainer accused of distributing the narcotic in large quantities among the youth, police said. The arrest and drug seizure were made on the basis of a tip-off received by Kochi City Police Commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, it said. The police arrested Muhammed Sadiq (25), who works as a gym trainer, and allegedly found 387.26 gm of MDMA in his possession during the raid, it said. The police had been trying for days to arrest the accused who was suspected of distributing MDMA in large quantities among the youth. Besides the narcotics, the police also seized Rs 66,000, allegedly proceeds of drug sale, and a motorbike, whose registration number had been changed, from the accused's possession. The accused was arrested by the Kochi City District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) led by Narcotics Cell Assistant Commissioner T D Sunil Kumar, police said. PTI HMP KH
