Jaipur, Jul 6 (PTI) The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at Shastri Nagar police station in Jodhpur Police Commissionerate for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000. The accused, identified as Hardevaram, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount at the complainant's residence, officials said. According to ACB Director General Govind Gupta, the bureau had received a complaint that the ASI was demanding money in connection with cases involving a dispute and assault between two parties. "The accused was demanding Rs 50,000 to help the complainant's husband in a registered case and to remove the name of another individual involved," Gupta said. The complainant had earlier paid Rs 5,000, but was being further harassed for the remaining amount. Acting on the complaint, an ACB team laid a trap. "The accused was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40,000 and keeping the amount in his trouser pocket," an ACB official said, adding that further questioning and investigation are underway. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. PTI AG ARB ARB
