Telangana Assembly Speaker appoints select committee on hate speech bill

Hyderabad, Jul 7 (PTI) Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar has constituted a select committee on the hate speech bill as per the motion adopted by the House on March 30 this year. State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has been nominated as the chairman of the committee on the Telangana Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill, 2026. The committee consists N Balu Naik, Laxmikantha Rao Thota, G Madhusudan Reddy, K Rajesh Reddy, M Yashaswini, Danam Nagender (all Congress), Kova Lakshmi, K Manik Rao (both BRS), Rama Rao Pawar (BJP), Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala (AIMIM) and Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao (CPI). The committee should submit its report on or before the concluding day of the monsoon session, an assembly bulletin said late on Monday. Separately, the Welfare and other Joint Committees and Legislative Council committees and Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council committees have also been constituted for 2026-27. PTI SJR ADB
