Chatra, Jul 13 (PTI) Two miscreants allegedly stole jewellery worth around Rs 60 lakh from a trader's parked motorcycle storage box in Jharkhand's Chatra district, police said on Monday. The incident, captured on CCTV cameras, took place around 8 pm on Sunday in the Itkhori main market, when the trader had stopped to collect money from someone, they said. "Two bike-borne miscreants stole jewellery from the parked motorcycle's storage compartment. Upon analysing CCTV footage, one of the pillion riders is seen standing near the bike. They stole jewellery totalling 10 kg of silver and 400 gram of gold, valued at around Rs 60 lakh," Itkhori Police Station Officer-in-charge Abhishek Singh said. "On the basis of the CCTV footage, we contacted police stations in adjoining districts. So far, it has come to light that the miscreants previously committed similar crimes in Ranchi, Ramgarh and Hazaribag districts. They will soon be arrested," he said. The victim, Dilip Soni, runs a jewellery shop in the market and was returning home after closing it. He told the police that, for security reasons, he was carrying jewellery home because his shop's roof is not made of concrete. An FIR was lodged in this regard based on Soni's statement, and further investigation is underway. PTI COR RPS RPS RG
