IAF chief visits forward posts in Ladakh, reviews operational preparedness

Jammu/Leh, Jul 8 (PTI) The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, on Wednesday concluded his six-day visit to forward areas in the Ladakh sector, during which he reviewed the operational preparedness of the IAF units and interacted with troops deployed in high-altitude areas. Air Chief Marshal Singh, accompanied by Sarita Singh who is the president of the Air Force Families Welfare Association, visited the sector from July 3 to July 8, a public relations officer (PRO) said. The IAF chief was received at Air Force Station Leh by Air Vice Marshal Anand Sondhi and other senior officers. During the visit, Singh reviewed the preparedness of units deployed in the strategically important region and appreciated the high level of coordination and operational synergy between the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, the PRO said. He also visited the Kargil War Memorial and the Rezang La War Memorial, where he laid wreaths in tribute to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. The visit, the official said, reaffirmed the Armed Forces' commitment to honouring the legacy of the nation's war heroes. The IAF chief later visited the newly constructed Nyoma Airfield to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure works. Interacting with personnel at forward locations, Air Chief Marshal Singh distributed sweets among troops and commended them for their professionalism, operational preparedness and resilience while serving in the challenging high-altitude environment. The visit underscored the IAF's commitment to maintaining a high state of operational readiness while ensuring the welfare and morale of personnel deployed in the Ladakh sector, the PRO said.
