Hydroponic ganja worth Rs 5.88 cr seized at Kochi airport

Kochi, Jul 7 (PTI) Customs arrested a person and seized 5.88 kg of hydroponic ganja, also known as hybrid ganja, valued at around Rs 5.88 crore from a passenger at Kochi airport, officials said. The passenger, identified as Richy Antony, a native of Thrissur district, was intercepted after arriving by a flight from Bangkok, officials said. According to Kochi Customs, a detailed examination of his checked-in baggage led to the recovery of the contraband concealed inside. The customs dog squad was utilised to detect the contraband. The seized hydroponic ganja is estimated to be worth around Rs 5.88 crore in the illicit market. The passenger was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and later remanded to judicial custody, officials added. PTI TBA TBA ROH
