Chandigarh, Jul 6 (PTI) The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is progressing rapidly in Haryana, with enumeration forms distributed to over 96 per cent of the state's voters, officials said on Monday.
According to the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO), enumeration forms have been distributed to more than 1.99 crore voters, covering 96.43 per cent of the electorate.
Of these, around 1.22 crore filled forms, or 59.11 per cent, have been collected by booth level officers (BLOs) and uploaded.
The revision exercise is being carried out as per the directions of the Election Commission.
Officials said each voter has been provided with two copies of the enumeration form. They are required to fill in necessary details, sign one copy and submit it to respective BLOs. The second copy, duly acknowledged by the BLO, should be retained by the voter as proof of submission.
The CEO said only those voters whose signed enumeration forms are received by the BLO will be included in the draft electoral roll, scheduled to be published July 21.
Voters who do not submit the forms by the prescribed deadline will not figure in the draft electoral roll.
Chief Electoral Officer A Sreenivas appealed to all eligible voters to fill up the forms carefully, provide accurate information and submit them before the July 14 deadline.
He also advised voters to collect the signed acknowledgement receipt from the BLO after submitting the form.
Voters can also submit the enumeration form online through the Voters' Service Portal.
The CEO also appealed to recognised political parties in the state to mobilise booth level agents to create awareness among voters and help ensure that maximum number of enumeration forms are submitted to the concerned BLOs within the stipulated time. PTI VSD ARB ARB
