Hisar, Jul 14 (PTI) A mishap was averted at Maharaja Agrasen Airport here on Tuesday after a chartered plane carrying the mortal remains of Nand Kishore Goenka, the father of Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra, landed on the old runway instead of the designated new one, officials said. According to Hisar Airport Director Om Prakash Saini, the chartered aircraft had arrived from Mumbai. Instead of landing on the assigned new runway, it touched down on the old strip and made a minor contact with a ground light installed there. Five members of Goenka's family, who accompanied his mortal remains from Mumbai to Hisar, were on board the aircraft. All of them are safe, and no injuries were reported, Saini said. He clarified that Chandra was not on board the flight. Airport authorities have taken a serious view of the incident and have initiated an investigation to determine how the aircraft landed on the wrong runway. The airport was inaugurated last year. Nand Kishore Goenka, a social worker, died on Monday at the age of 96. PTI COR SUN RHL
