Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 14 (PTI) Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala will meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay in Chennai on Wednesday to seek the neighbouring state's support for the anti-drug campaign 'Operation Toofan -- The Narco Hunt'.
According to an official release here on Tuesday, the meeting will be held at 11.30 am.
The release said the minister would seek Tamil Nadu's support for the initiative launched by the Kerala's Home Department to eradicate the drug mafia.
"The meeting is aimed at joint efforts to identify drug hubs, prevent the spread of narcotics and root out the drug mafia. The primary objective is to secure the full support of the Tamil Nadu government," it said.
The release also noted that Chennithala had met Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in Bengaluru last week as part of efforts to build inter-state cooperation against drug trafficking.
It further said that a meeting of the Directors General of Police (DGPs) of the southern states had recently been convened in Thiruvananthapuram to strengthen coordination in the fight against narcotics. PTI TGB ADB
