Five nabbed with heroin worth Rs 80 lakh in Aligarh

Aligarh, Jul 8 (PTI) Five alleged drug traffickers, including a woman, of an inter-district narcotics network were arrested here and heroin worth over Rs 80 lakh was seized, police said on Wednesday. The arrests were made on Tuesday evening in the Rorawar police station area during a joint operation by the city police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force. Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap and intercepted the accused while they were entering the city. The five were arrested before they could allegedly deliver the consignment to their local contact, police said. Circle Officer Dhananjay Singh said 864 grams of heroin and cash amounting to Rs 4.5 lakh were recovered from the accused. All five have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are being interrogated to identify other members of the inter-district drug trafficking network, he said.
