Fire breaks out in house in UP's Etah; shops, vehicles gutted

Etah (UP), Jul 9 (PTI) A massive fire broke out in a two-storey house in Aliganj town of Uttar Pradesh's Etah district, destroying some shops and vehicles, officials said on Thursday. No casualties were reported. The fire broke out on Wednesday night in the house of Chaman Miyan while the family was sleeping. The family managed to come out safely. Fire Station Officer Jitendra Kumar said fire tenders from Etah and Aliganj were rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control. He said the fire destroyed a car, a three-wheeler, two motorcycles, an electric scooter and other household items. Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Aliganj Jagmohan Gupta said a revenue department team has been directed to assess the damage and financial assistance would be provided to the family as per rules after the report is submitted. The affected family, however, alleged that the fire brigade reached the spot late, resulting in extensive damage. PTI COR ABN DV DV
