Patna, Jul 8 (PTI) A 25-year-old man was allegedly abducted by unidentified persons in the state capital Patna and investigations are underway to rescue the victim, officials said on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Bunty, was a resident of Karbighaiya under the Jakkanpur police station area of the district.
"A kidnapping case has been registered at the Kotwali police station based on the application filed by the victim's mother. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday near the milk market close to Patna Junction railway station," SDPO (Law & Order 1) Krishna Murari told reporters.
The complaint named two suspects and mentioned 7-8 unknown individuals allegedly involved in the incident, he added.
Murari said that the victim used to sell fast food on his cart in the area, and the suspects, too, were involved in similar business.
"Based on our initial findings, about 15-20 days ago, there was a dispute between them, which likely led to this incident. Out of the two named suspects, one has been detained, and based on his confession, raids are being conducted to nab the other," said the SDPO.
Police have formed multiple teams, including raid and special operation teams, to catch the remaining suspects and rescue the victim safely, he added.
Meanwhile, in the course of his pada yatra, Jan Suraaj Party leader Prashant Kishor on Wednesday visited Jakkanpur locality where locals were staging a demonstration in protest against a recent kidnapping incident.
By the time Kishor reached the spot, the protesters had been chased away by the police, but the Jan Suraaj Party founder met them and promised to take up their cause.
"People are protesting here because a youth was abducted three days ago. The police had assured us that the case would be solved in two days. I have urged protestors not to block the road, and assured them that I will come back here if the case is not solved within the stipulated time," Kishor told reporters. PTI SUK RG
