Chandigarh, Jul 9 (PTI) A team from the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday reviewed the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls during a meeting with the electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) of the Union Territory of Chandigarh here. The meeting assessed the implementation of the EC's directions and reviewed key aspects of the revision exercise, including house-to-house verification, submission and digitisation of enumeration forms (EFs), voter-facilitation measures, the functioning of helpdesks and grievance-redressal mechanisms. The EROs and AEROs briefed the EC team on the progress made in their respective jurisdictions and outlined the steps taken to ensure the timely completion of the revision process. The discussions also focussed on strengthening coordination among field-level officials, expanding voter outreach and ensuring that every eligible elector receives necessary assistance during the revision exercise. The EC team stressed strict adherence to the commission's guidelines and timelines. It directed the officials to closely monitor field activities, maintain the quality and accuracy of the electoral roll revision, promptly address grievances raised by electors and intensify voter-awareness campaigns to ensure maximum public participation in the exercise.
