Mumbai, Jul 9 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday inaugurated a digital dashboard for real-time monitoring of pending legislative business, marking a major step in the digital transformation of the state legislature, officials said.
The dashboard will enable online tracking of pending starred and unstarred questions, calling attention motions, half-an-hour discussion notices, special mentions and other parliamentary instruments, improving coordination between the legislature and the government.
Officials said the system, launched at an event at Vidhan Bhavan, is aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency and accountability in legislative functioning by replacing the conventional paper-based monitoring process with a digital platform.
The dashboard will provide real-time information on the status of pending legislative matters, department-wise updates and facilitate faster submission of replies by government departments, they said.
Officials said the chief secretary and departmental secretaries will also be able to monitor pending legislative business online, helping expedite responses and strengthen the government's accountability to the legislature.
Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil and other senior officials were present at the event.
Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bhole said, "Maharashtra launched its digital transformation initiative in July 2022 with the objective of making both Houses fully digital. Multimedia conference systems have been installed at members' desks, allowing access to daily business, legislative documents and internet resources." Proceedings of the legislature dating back to 1937 have been digitised, while audio-visual records from 2013 onwards have also been archived digitally, he said.
Digital copies of gazettes, bills, budget documents, committee reports, governors' addresses, government policies, court judgments and other legislative records are also being made available, Bhole said.
The legislature secretariat has substantially shifted to the e-Office system since December 2024, with plans to integrate additional digital platforms, including e-HRMS, MahaPar and e-RTI, in the coming phase, he added. PTI MR BNM
