New Delhi, Jul 14 (PTI) The Vice and Principals' Association of Delhi on Tuesday urged the Directorate of Education to rationalise the deployment of teachers for Booth-Level Officer (BLO) and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duties, saying large-scale deputation of teaching staff has affected the schools' functioning.
In a letter to the DoE, the association expressed concern over the large-scale deployment of teachers for prolonged election-related duties, claiming that it has created difficulties for school heads.
The association said the shortage of teaching staff has affected the conduct of regular classes, academic activities, and students' participation in sports and cultural competitions.
It also highlighted that availability of adequate staff is necessary for implementing child safety protocols in schools.
The body alleged that Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) have been deputing teachers for BLO and SIR duties without coordination with the DoE or the school heads.
It also suggested that the number of teachers deployed should be reviewed and school heads consulted before issuing deployment orders.
"The academic interests, safety and holistic development of students must remain a paramount consideration," the association said. PTI SHB VN VN
