Delhi: Gang leader among 4 arrested with pistols, knives in Dwarka

New Delhi, Jul 7 (PTI) Four members of a newly formed gang, including its leader, were arrested with two pistols, live cartridges and knives in southwest Delhi's Dwarka, officials said on Tuesday. The accused were identified as Aman alias Sukka (31), Akash (22), Aman alias Hira (24) and Ritik (22), all residents of the Bindapur area. Police said the four were arrested during a raid conducted near Sewa Bharti Chowk on Old Pankha Road in the early hours of July 2 after receiving specific information that they were roaming in the area carrying illegal weapons. According to police, Aman, the alleged gang leader, was trying to establish his own gang after being influenced by an infamous Punjab gangster. Investigators said that he had earlier been involved in cases of attempted murder, robbery and snatching and was recruiting young men to expand his criminal network. "Aman had previously joined a local gang before attempting to float his own outfit and had allegedly procured illegal firearms to establish dominance in the area," a senior police officer said. Police said that Akash and Ritik also have previous criminal cases registered against them, while the antecedents of the remaining accused are being verified. Further investigation is underway.
