Dehradun, Jul 7 (PTI) A court in Dehradun on Tuesday rejected the bail applications of two accused in connection with the death of retired Brigadier Mukesh Joshi, who was killed during a shootout in the Rajpur area a few months ago. The Dehradun District and Sessions Court rejected the bail pleas of Aditya Chaudhary and Samir Chaudhary in the incident that took place on the morning of March 30 in Johri village on Mussoorie Road. Joshi (74), a resident of Tula Apartment, was out on a morning walk when a stray bullet killed him in a shootout between two groups during a car chase. According to the investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Pravesh Rawat, a chargesheet was filed in court in June regarding the incident, naming nine people as accused, including Aditya and Samir. The other accused include Mohammad Akhlaq, Rohit Kumar Singh, Mohit Arora, Adesh Giri, Shantanu Tyagi, Kavish Hussain Tyagi, and Vaibhav Kumar. As many as 32 people were made witnesses in the chargesheet. The dispute between the two groups began late in the night of March 29 at the 'Gen-Z' nightclub, where Aditya Chaudhary and his associates had an altercation with the club staff. Following this, club employees Rohit Kumar, Akhlaq, and others smashed the windows of Chaudhary’s new Scorpio car, which did not have a registration plate. After leaving the club, Aditya and his associates waited a short distance away to take revenge. As soon as the club employees drove onto the road in their Fortuner car in the morning, Aditya and his associates pursued them in their Scorpio. In an attempt to stop the Fortuner, Aditya’s associate Shantanu fired shots at it, triggering a shootout. The police said that Joshi, who was caught in the crossfire, died as a result. The police have also added murder charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in this case. PTI DPT KSI KSI
