New Delhi, Jul 13 (PTI) Congress SP Imran Masood on Monday accused the Samajwadi Party of remaining silent on issues concerning Muslims and said if the Akhilesh Yadav-led party intends to form an alliance, it should do so with sincerity.
Speaking with PTI Videos, Masood questioned whether Muslims are merely a vote bank.
The MP from Saharanpur said, "Samajwadi Party leaders constantly attack me. What will they gain by targeting me? Instead, they should take on the BJP." "Muslims' mosques are being demolished, madrassas are being razed, injustice is being meted out to Muslims, and atrocities are being committed against Dalits. They ought to speak up on these issues, too. But they (SP leaders) won't do that; instead, they target me," he said.
"If you genuinely want to fight the BJP, then finalise the alliance... If you don't want to do anything on the ground, then it means you are not honest," Masood said.
If the opposition does not come to power, it is the Muslims who will suffer, he added.
Masood said there was no animosity towards the SP, but he was holding up a mirror to the party. PTI ASK RHL
