Shimla, Jul 14 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday organised protests across the state over the alleged Ram temple donation scam in Ayodhya, demanding an impartial probe under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge and strict action against those found guilty.
District Congress Committees (DCCs) held rallies at all district headquarters, with Congress leaders and workers marching to local temples while singing devotional songs.
In Shimla, party workers took out a procession from Rajiv Bhawan to the Ram temple, chanting Ram bhajans.
Participating in the march, All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and Theog MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore alleged that the BJP was shielding the main accused in the case.
"The truth is being hidden. A cover-up is being carried out in the name of investigation, but the Congress is not going to remain silent on this great sin of theft," he said.
Rathore alleged that the theft of donations worth thousands of crores from the Ram temple had taken place under the BJP's patronage. He also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the issue.
"During the construction of the Ram temple, the prime minister appealed to people in India and abroad to donate. His silence on this theft today is highly suspicious," he said.
In Dharamshala, a rally was led by Himachal Pradesh Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, who said crores of devotees from India and abroad had contributed to the temple's construction and that the alleged theft had hurt the religious sentiments of the people. PTI COR PRK
