Census 2027: Initial houselisting phase concludes in Himachal

Shimla, July 16 (PTI) The initial houselisting and housing phase of Census 2027 has been completed across Himachal Pradesh, officials said on Thursday. According to a statement issued by the Directorate of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh, the exercise -- which commenced June 16 and concluded July 15 -- witnessed extensive use of digital technology, enabling data collection with remarkable speed, efficiency and accuracy. The statement said one of the most significant achievements of this phase was successful implementation of the self-enumeration facility. A large number of citizens made effective use of the official digital platform to register information, thereby actively contributing to this crucial national exercise. It further said the successful execution of this large-scale operation was made possible through dedicated efforts of the administrative machinery and field functionaries. Deputy commissioners of all districts, municipal commissioners, tehsildars and other senior census officers provided leadership and closely monitored every aspect of the operation. Equally commendable was the commitment of field staff appointed by the state government, including trainers, enumerators and supervisors, whose efforts ensured smooth conduct of the exercise. The statement said despite the challenging terrain and difficult geographical conditions across the state, enumerators and supervisors reached households with dedication to collect accurate information. The Directorate of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh, expressed gratitude to people of the state, field staff, administrative officers and the media for their support and cooperation in making this important national endeavour a success.
