Shimla, Jul 7 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh stated on Tuesday that had the Ram temple donation theft row occurred during Congress' time in power, the BJP would have incited nationwide unrest. Launching a scathing attack on the BJP, the Congress leader asserted that those who politicise the name of Lord Ram have remained silent on matter, and vowed to take the issue to the public. "If such an incident had taken place under the Congress government, BJP leaders would have sparked nationwide unrest and set the whole country ablaze," he told reporters here. He called for an investigation into the matter under the supervision of a sitting Supreme Court judge, deeming the tarnishing of Lord Ram's name as extremely unfortunate. Singh highlighted that the financial scams and irregularities in the donations for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, including claims of the embezzling crores of rupees, are issues that concern the faith of the entire nation. Targeting the BJP further, he remarked that the party, which has built its politics around Lord Ram for years, has betrayed both Lord Ram and the people of the country. He accused central agencies of operating under government pressure, which he claims is hindering the truth from being revealed. Singh, who was the only Congress minister invited to the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, expressed deep regret over the looting and corruption occurring in the temple's name. He also noted that his family has followed Sanatan traditions for generations and pointed out that the anti-conversion law in Himachal was introduced during the tenure of the Congress government.
